BURLESON CO. TEMPORARILY DISCONTINUING WEEKLY COVID-19 UPDATES DUE TO “LAG IN DATA”

The Burleson County Office of Emergency Management has temporarily stopped giving weekly updates on COVID-19 cases.

In an announcement last week, the office said it will not be giving updates due to the “lag in data” that it receives.  Emergency management officials said that the information being reported to the county is very far behind, and they feel the information at that point is “no longer useful” and does not give “an accurate picture of what is currently happening”.

The office said, “It does no good for any of us to see a number of confirmed cases without also seeing a correct number of cases that are either in the hospital or that have recovered.  It also does no one any good to see a bunch of new case numbers that may be already recovered by the time you see them as a new number.”

Officials said they are working with their state and regional partners to attempt to get more real-time and up-to-date information.  They said once they start receiving information in a timelier manner and are able to present a more accurate picture, updates will resume.

Data provided by the Texas Department of State Health Services (DSHS) shows that, as of Monday, the county is reporting 196 positive cases, 105 active cases, 79 recoveries, no deaths, and a cumulative total of 1,513 tests performed.
