TxDOT TO AGAIN CLOSE HIGHWAY 290 EAST AT SHEPPARD CREEK FRIDAY FOR REPAIRS

EASTBOUND DRIVERS TO BE DETOURED ONTO FM 2502, FM 389

Eastbound Highway 290 traffic backs up on the detour on FM 389 July 2nd. Eastbound drivers will again have to take the detour on FM 2502 and FM 389 Friday, as TxDOT will be back out at the Sheppard Creek bridge crossing to make repairs.

Drivers on Highway 290 headed east into Brenham will once again have to prepare for a detour tomorrow (Friday).

TxDOT will close Highway 290 eastbound at Sheppard Creek from 9 a.m. to noon tomorrow to make repairs.  All eastbound drivers will be detoured from Highway 290 to FM 2502, then to FM 389, then back onto Highway 290.

This is the same stretch drivers eastbound on Highway 290 had to take July 2nd, after an 18-wheeler crashed into the guardrail in the center median at the bridge in the construction zone on July 1st.

Bob Colwell, Public Information Officer for TxDOT’s Bryan District, said tomorrow’s work will mainly be cosmetic, consisting of sloping off the rocks that surround the guardrail pipe.  He said the work at the site will “dress it up a little bit”, and should also help in the event of rainfall.

Drivers should follow all detour signs and expect some minor delays.
