NEW GAS STATION LEADS BRENHAM BUILDING PERMITS FOR AUGUST

  

Preparations for a new gas station and convenience store led the month of August for building permits issued by the City of Brenham.

The city issued a pair of permits totaling $1.8 million to Diamond Shamrock to demolish the Valero gas station at 1708 Highway 105 and build a new 3,819 square-foot Circle K convenience store with six gas pumps in its place.  The project is contracted to Medders Construction, Inc. out of La Porte.

Last August, the Brenham City Council approved a zoning change at the site to allow the land to be rezoned from local business and residential mixed use to commercial research and technology use.

The city also issued a $162,080 permit to Brenham Car Club, LLC for interior remodeling and parking improvements for the car club at 1501 South Blue Bell Road.  The project is contracted to OnePoint, Inc. out of Houston.

The city issued 21 permits in August worth $2,686,168, compared to 27 permits for $1,299,103 last August.

Four new homes were permitted in August for $483,738.   So far this year, the city has permitted 52 new homes for $6,798,275.

So far this year, the city has issued 191 permits worth $72,667,669.  Through this time last year, the city had issued 196 permits for $34,308,275.
