BRYAN DRIVE-BY SHOOTING SUSPECTS INDICTED FOR MURDER, AGGRAVATED ASSAULT

Three Bryan men have been indicted by a Brazos County Grand Jury for their role in a fatal drive-by shooting in June.

24-year-old Ayrian Brown, 24-year-old Demetrius Thomas, and 18-year-old DeShawn Franklin were all indicted this week, after authorities say they shot and killed Derrick O’Bryant Smith on Clark Street in Bryan on June 3rd.

Brown and Thomas were indicted for Murder and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, with Thomas being indicted on an additional charge of Evading Arrest.  Franklin was indicted on three counts of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.

Thomas was arrested July 29th after Brenham police informed Bryan authorities that he had posted on social media he was eating at a Houston restaurant and driving to Bryan afterwards.  Officers arrested Thomas after he passed them on Highway 6.

Brown was arrested on June 11th in Austin, while Franklin was taken into custody June 23rd in College Station.
