OCTOBER SALES TAX REBATES UP FOR BRENHAM, WASHINGTON CO., DOWN FOR BURTON

  

October’s sales and tax distributions were up for both Brenham and Washington County, but down for Burton.

Washington County’s October rebate was $247,482, up 4.1 percent from the $237,707 it received last October.  So far in 2020, the county has received $2,520,459, down 5.2 percent from a year ago, when the county had received $2,660,349.

Brenham’s October rebate totaled $568,275, a 4.4 percent increase from last October, when the city received $544,234.  Through the year so far, Brenham has received $5,750,722, a decrease of 0.8 percent from the $5,801,286 received at this point last year.

Burton received $6,033 this month, down 19 percent from last October’s payment of $7,453.  To date, Burton has received $71,495, 3.4 percent up from last year’s payment-to-date of $69,133.

Comptroller Glenn Hegar reported the state paid out $751.5 million in October, down 2.8 percent from last October, and down 0.1 percent for the year to this point.
