LUHNOW CLAIMS NO INVOLVEMENT IN ASTROS’ CHEATING SCANDAL

Disgraced former Astros’ general manager Jeff Luhnow continues to claim he had nothing to do with the team’s sign-stealing scandal.

In an interview with KPRC TV in Houston, Luhnow continues to deny any knowledge about the team's sign stealing in 2017 and 2018.  The former GM also claims some individuals who were involved are still working for the team.

In his first public comments since he was fired in January, Lunhnow claims he got access to 22,000 text messages from Astros video room personnel after he was fired, and claims it exonerates him from any wrongdoing.

Luhnow said the texts were part of Major League Baseball's investigation into the cheating and that the Astros had access to them, as well.

An MLB investigation confirmed the Astros by using a camera-based, sign-stealing system during the regular season and playoffs of their World Series-winning 2017 season and during part of the 2018 season.

The league suspended Luhnow and manager AJ Hinch for the entire 2020 season while stripping the organization of four draft picks and levying a $5 million fine.  The two were then fired by owner Jim Crane.

  1. Starters, the MLB proved no cheating in 2018.
Second, this just continues to paint the team now as cheaters when stats clearly show not there.
Luhnow knew, and deserved to be fired. He’s just Fiers 2.0.
