PANTHERS FIRST; LADY PANTHERS SECOND AT DISTRICT CROSS-COUNTRY
The Burton Panthers and Lady Panthers competed in the District Championship meet, Saturday at Davidson Creek Park in Caldwell.
In the Boys Varsity Race, the Panthers finished 1st as a team, claiming the District 26/2A title. Panthers took the top three spots, led by Jakori Mathis, with Eli Saunders claiming 2nd and Trevor Renninger 3rd. Jett Cowen placed 6th overall and Cannon Manley placed 8th. Koldby Vavrecka and Mason McCoy rounded out the varsity squad.
Thomas Angell claimed 1st place overall in the JV division.
The Lady Panthers finished 2nd overall as a team to Normangee. Finishing in the top 10 and earning medals were Victoria Weisepape, 6th and Allie Holt, 10th. Running for the Lady Panthers as well were Kaylynn Vavrecka, Michaela Wilke, Karime Ortiz, Mycah Simank, and Kirstin Dyess.
The Lady Panther Junior High squad captured the district title, led by Peyton Sigsbee, 1st.
As district champs and district runner-ups, both varsity squads advance to the Regional Meet in Corpus Christi, on November 10th.
