BEN SEEKER STEPPING DOWN AS WCVA PRESIDENT

Ben Seeker

Ben Seeker has announced he is stepping down as the president of the Washington County Veterans Association (WCVA).

Seeker made the announcement in his Veterans Day address during today’s (Wednesday) Veterans Day program on KWHI.

Seeker, who has served as president of the organization since 2017, thanked the entirety of Washington County for all they have done to support local veterans.

Seeker will continue to serve as commander of James F. Dillon VFW Post 7104.  He said, for the WCVA, he simply felt it was time to “step aside and let someone else have some fun.”

Since Seeker became president of the WCVA, the organization oversaw the restoration and dedication of the historic F-111 fighter jet at Henderson Park, as well as the installation of new lighting and security cameras at the Veterans Memorial Plaza at Fireman’s Park.

The WCVA is also soon beginning a restoration project at the memorial plaza for the bricks that are inscribed with the names of local veterans.  Seeker said the organization has reached out to Jacob Janda of Janda Monument Company and Cemetery Services in Giddings to revitalize the faded bricks and columns at the plaza.  He said he expects the project will begin by the end of the month, and should be complete sometime this winter.

Seeker said the WCVA should have nominations in for a new president in December, with an election in January.

  1. I had the opportunity to hear Commander Seekers speech this morning and wow, what an awesome speech. In it, he gave all the credit of getting things done to Brenham and Washington County and the residents. His tribute to his fellow Veterans and their families was so heartwarming and humbling. Thank you Commander Seeker for your service and sacrifices. Thank you to all of the Veterans.

KWHI, I wish you would re-broadcast his speech on your Facebook page so many others have the opportunity to hear his words. Thank you for broadcasting it live.

He praised Brenham and Washington County and the residents for stepping up when the need was needed. He made Brenham and Washington County proud. KWHI, I wish you would re-broadcast his speech on Facebook so it can be shared with so many that did not have the opportunity to hear it. Thank you, Ben Seeker, first for your service and sacrifices, and second, for filling my heart with your words.
