Five members of the Washington County Ladies Lions Club recently received prestigious Lions Club awards.

At the club’s meeting Monday, Past Lions Club International Director Joe Al Picone awarded five Melvin Jones Fellowships to Deloris Draehn, Enid Kocian, Peggy Kramer, Jeanne Luedemann, and Linda Oberhoff. The Melvin Jones Fellowship is the top award in Lionsism.

Picone said at Monday’s meeting that the club currently has 22 Melvin Jones Fellows. District 2S5, which includes the Washington County Ladies Lions Club, has 471 Melvin Jones Fellows.

Picone, who has sponsored 300 new members, also recognized two membership award winners: Donna Clay, with the Diamond Centennials Membership award, and Connie Kendall, with the Membership Key award for sponsoring five new members.

The club also welcomed new members Jody Johnson and Linda Kocian, who were both installed by Past President Luedemann.
