HOSPICE BRAZOS VALLEY RELOCATES INPATIENT FACILITY TO ST. JOSEPH HEALTH COLLEGE STATION HOSPITAL

Hospice Brazos Valley (HBV) has completed the relocation of its inpatient facility from Bryan to College Station.

The inpatient unit has been moved from St. Joseph Health and Rehab Hospital in Bryan to the second floor of St. Joseph Health College Station Hospital at 1604 Rock Prairie Road.  The new location is the former College Station Medical Center, which St. Joseph acquired on August 1, 2019.

Renovations began in December 2019 to create a new space for the inpatient facility.  The new space includes seven rooms that each hold a private bathroom.

HBV President and CEO Craig Borchardt said with the arrival of COVID-19 in March, HBV and St. Joseph Health paused discussions about finalizing the relocation of the inpatient facility.  However, he said the coronavirus had little impact on the renovation of space in the College Station Hospital, as renovation was mostly completed by March.  He said discussions regarding relocation resumed in June and culminated in the relocation of the facility during the first week of November.

Borchardt said this move allows HBV to continue “making inpatient hospice care available to all who need end-of-life care,” and thanked St. Joseph Health for partnering with HBV to make it possible.

St. Joseph Health CEO Theron Park said this partnership focuses on meeting the needs of the communities the two organizations serve, and is “a tremendous step forward in hospice care for the community.”

Due to challenges related to COVID-19, access to the inpatient facility is limited to patients, their loved ones, and staff at this time.
