THE BARNHILL CENTER REOPENS SATURDAY WITH DARDEN SMITH AND RAY BENSON

The Barnhill Center in downtown Brenham will host live entertainment this weekend for the first time since February.

The historic venue will reopen tomorrow (Saturday) at 7 p.m. with the debut of the Darden Smith Singer/Songwriter Series.  The first show of the series will feature Ray Benson, founder and front man for the popular Western Swing band Asleep at the Wheel.

Benson has earned nine Grammy Awards over the past 40 years, and last year led Asleep at the Wheel’s 50th Anniversary Tour with sellout crowds across the country.

The series will be hosted by Smith, a Brenham native who is now based in Austin.  Smith plans to bring some of Texas’ finest performers to Brenham with shows continuing through 2021.

The Barnhill Center will reopen with social distancing, and guests must wear masks while not in their seats.  High-touch areas and public surfaces will be sanitized often throughout events.

Balcony seats are still available for tomorrow’s performance.  Tickets can be purchased by visiting the Barnhill Center’s box office in the Visitor Center, 111 West Main Street, or by calling 979-337-7240.

Tickets cannot be purchased online, but more information is available by visiting www.thebarnhillcenter.com.
