BLINN BOARD TO MULL CONTRACTS FOR STEI BUILDING, APPOINT NEW TRUSTEE

The Blinn Board of Trustees will meet Tuesday to consider a series of contracts for the Science, Technology, Engineering, and Innovation Building under construction on the Blinn-Brenham Campus.

Trustees will look to authorize Blinn administrators to negotiate contracts for the purchase of furniture, fixtures and equipment for the new facility, which is expected to be complete in time for Blinn’s Fall 2021 semester.

The 72,000-square-foot building will include 17,000 square feet of laboratory space and a 3,000-square-foot innovation lab, providing expanded lab spaces for Blinn’s science, engineering, and health science programs.

The board will also consider the appointment of a new trustee to fill the unexpired term of former trustee Dan Gatewood.  Gatewood resigned from the board in August after being appointed to represent Precinct Four in December 2018.  Whoever is appointed will serve the remainder of the term through May 2021.

Trustees will also consider the College’s policy priorities for the 87th Session of the Texas Legislature.  The 87th Legislature begins January 12th.

The board will meet Tuesday afternoon at 5:30 p.m.  The meeting will be livestreamed on Blinn’s YouTube channel.
