LOCAL DEPARTMENTS CALLED OUT TO MINOR GRASS FIRES

  

 

Fire departments in Brenham and Chappell Hill were called on to extinguish a pair of small grass fires, Monday.

Just before noon, the departments were called out to the 2900 block of Indian Paint Brush Road, north of US 290 East.

Firefighters found about ¼ of an acre of land on fire, caused by burning leaves.  The fire was quickly extinguished.

Just after 3:00 p.m., both departments were called out to FM 2447near Sample Cemetery Road, just west of Chappell Hill.

They found a small fire along a fence line that was quickly put out.  The cause is unknown.

  1. What is needed to get folks to not burn anything outdoors when it is dry and windy? The same goes for pulling a BBQ pit with burning coals down the highway, I still see smokers throw out a lit cigarette from time to time. That is much rarer than years ago but still a stupid & uncaring thing to do. Thankfully, dedicates folks were around (who took time out of their day) to put these fires out!
