MOTHER OF HAZANA ANDERSON FOUND GUILTY BY GALVESTON CO. JURY

The mother charged in the death of one-year-old Hazana Anderson of Bryan has been found guilty by a Galveston County jury.
After deliberating for only 45 minutes, the jury found 23-year-old Tiaundra Christon guilty of Tampering with a Human Corpse.
Christon and her boyfriend, 34-year-old Kenny Hewett of Houston, were each charged with tampering after investigators said Hazana was fatally beaten at a Houston-area motel. Her body was disposed of in a lake in Texas City. Days after the body was disposed of, Christon reported Hazana missing from her stroller at a College Station park.
Christon had pleaded not guilty in the trial, which began on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Hewett was sentenced to 20 years in prison as part of a plea agreement in November 2019.
Online court records indicate Christon is in custody at the Galveston County Jail. A date has not been set for Christon’s sentencing.
