BLUEBONNET OPRY SHOWS IN DECEMBER, JANUARY CANCELLED

  

Fans of the monthly Bluebonnet Opry at Silver Wings Ballroom in Brenham will have to wait until at least February for the next performance.

The Friends of Bluebonnet Opry board met recently and cancelled its shows planned for this month and next month.

Bluebonnet Opry President Eunice Drews said, as with the board’s previous decision to cancel shows through October, the choice to cancel these shows factored in the recent increase in COVID-19 cases locally.  She said the decision was made in order to protect the health of the age groups that primarily attend the concerts.

 

Drews said the board will meet early next month to review the prospects of holding a show in February.

 

Proceeds from each show benefit Hospice Brazos Valley, but shows have only been held in January, February, and June this year.  The opry donated $1,200 this month to Hospice Brazos Valley and has donated $3,500 to the organization in total this year, compared to roughly $7,000 in donations last year.
