SIX YEAR OLD BOY DIES FROM INJURIES IN MONDAY ACCIDENT

A 6 year old boy died from injuries sustained in a two vehicle accident Monday morning near Carmine.  Jerry Lane Zurita, age 6, was rushed to St. Mark’s Hospital in La Grange but later died from his injuries.  Zurita was a passenger in a 2003 Ford F150 pickup driven by Vanessa Rodriguez-Herrera of Brenham.  Just before 8:00 AM, the pickup slammed into the back of an 18 wheeler that was stopped in the right lane of Highway 237 near Hinze Road in the Carmine area.  The 18 wheeler was driven by Eshauq Asif of Canada.  There is no word of why he was stopped, just over a hilltop on 237.  He and his passenger, Hajra Asif, were not injured in the accident.  Rodriguez-Herrera and another passenger in the pickup, Kaden Hernandez, age 9, were transported to St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan with minor injuries.  Rodriguez-Herrera was reportedly driving the children to school Monday morning.  Multiple units from both Fayette and Washington County responded to the accident including an Air Evac helicopter.
