ONE HOSPITALIZED AFTER DUALLY ACCIDENT NEAR INDEPENDENCE

  

One person was hospitalized with serious injuries after an accident Tuesday night, south of Independence.

First responders were called out shortly before 9 p.m. to the 9600 block of FM 50, south of Captain Scott Road, for a crash with entrapment.  Upon arrival, authorities found a Chevy dually on its roof.

DPS Sergeant Alease Wilson said the vehicle rolled over after going off the roadway and overcorrecting when trying to return to the roadway.

According to DPS, FM 50 was shut down at 9:30 p.m. to allow a medical helicopter to land.

The patient, a 25-year-old male, was flown to a hospital in Bryan in critical condition.

DPS reports the scene was cleared at 11 p.m.
