BURTON SCHOOL BOARD TO CONSIDER SUPERINTENDENT EVALUATION
The Burton School Board will consider the evaluation of Superintendent Dr. Edna Kennedy at its meeting Monday.
Trustees are expected to meet in executive session to discuss Dr. Kennedy’s evaluation, as well as her contract and salary.
The last time the board addressed Dr. Kennedy’s contract was in January 2020, when it voted to extend her contract two years through June 30, 2023.
Dr. Kennedy joined Burton ISD in February 2015, following the retirement of former superintendent James Palmer in October 2014.
Also on Monday, trustees will consider an order for a school board election for the positions held by Tracey Cox and David Warner, Sr. on May 1st. Both were elected in 2018, but Cox resigned in November after announcing in October that she would be moving out of the district. The board will also look to approve a joint election contract with the City of Burton and appoint election officials.
Trustees will also consider a board policy update affecting local policies on cybersecurity, at-will employment, medical treatment and conduct on school premises. They will also discuss the district and board student outcome goals, followed by the potential allotted restriction of four of the six months of operational fund balance towards future district needs.
Reports will be given by the superintendent, principals and athletic director. Executive session discussion on personnel and district safety and security is also planned.
The board will meet Monday evening at 6 p.m. The virtual login and call-in information for the meeting is posted below. Any public comments must be submitted to ekennedy@stu.burtonisd.net between 5:15 and 5:45 p.m. Monday evening to be included in the meeting.
