BRENHAM WOMAN INDICTED IN CONNECTION TO LOCAL HOUSE FIRE

A Brenham woman arrested after an investigation into a fire that caused major damage to a local home has been indicted by the latest Washington County Grand Jury.

50-year-old Tanora Javice Deere was indicted Monday for Burglary of a Habitation, a second degree felony.  She was arrested by the Brenham Police Department on October 20th in connection to a fire at a home the same day in the 1200 block of East Alamo Street.

According to the indictment filed Monday, Deere entered the home without consent of the homeowner and “attempted to commit or committed an assault” against the homeowner.

The home sustained heavy fire damage to the front two rooms, and there was heavy smoke damage throughout the house.

Also indicted Monday was 30-year-old Charles Edward Johnson of Brenham, for Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon Causing Serious Bodily Injury, a second degree felony.  Johnson was arrested by Brenham police on October 20th after, according to the indictment, striking the head of the victim using his hand, causing serious bodily injury.

Also indicted was 30-year-old Jose Ricardo Chavez of Bryan, for Possession of a Controlled Substance.  Chavez was arrested by Brenham police on October 25th.
