DAVID ZAJICEK WILL RUN AGAIN FOR BURTON MAYOR

In an about-face, Burton Mayor David Zajicek has announced he will seek re-election this spring.

Burton Mayor David Zajicek listens to proceedings during the Burton City Council's meeting December 8th.

Zajicek announced in December that he would not run for another term in office after serving as mayor since 2017.  However, he has informed KWHI that he will run for another term, due to lack of interest from the public in running for the post.

Zajicek, who defeated previous mayor Peggy Felder in the May 2017 election and was uncontested in 2019, also said he has had several citizens ask him to run for office again.

With today (Friday) being the deadline to file as a candidate on the ballot, Zajicek is running unopposed, along with councilmembers Nathan Kalkhake, Paul McLaughlin and Macey Tidwell.

Tuesday is the final day to file as a write-in candidate.  Election Day is Saturday, May 1st.
