EARLY VOTING WRAPS UP FOR CITY, SCHOOL BOARD ELECTIONS

  

Early voting has concluded for the Brenham City Council, Brenham School Board and Burton School Board elections.

Voters that did not participate in early voting will now have to wait until Saturday to cast their ballot at their designated polling location.  A full list of polling places on Election Day can be seen at www.co.washington.tx.us.

Early voting rounded out on Tuesday with 319 voters in the Brenham School Board election and 177 in the Brenham City Council election.  Both numbers were the highest during the seven days of early voting.

A total of 1,470 people voted early in the Brenham ISD election out of a total of 20,830 registered voters.  The City of Brenham election saw 893 of 8,938 registered voters vote early.

Four people voted in the Pecan Glen Road District bond election, totaling 53 early votes out of 87 registered voters.

For the Burton ISD election, 24 early voters came in on Tuesday, bringing the early voting total to 73 people.

The contested races for the Brenham School Board feature Board Vice President Melvin Ehlert against challengers Christine Giese and Jared Krenek, and incumbent Tommie Sullivan facing Michelle Walbeck.  Board President Natalie Lange is unopposed.

The Brenham City Council races include Ward One incumbent Keith Herring against Shannan Canales, At-Large Position 5 incumbent Clint Kolby against Allan Colvin, and At-Large Position 6 candidates Leah Cook and Albert Buchanan.  Atwood Kenjura is running unopposed for the Ward 3 council seat.

Three candidates are running for the two at-large positions up for election on the Burton School Board: incumbent David Warner, Sr., Boris Jumper, Sr., and Brian Hinze.
