MAN CHARGED WITH ATTEMPTED MURDER ARRESTED IN FAYETTE CO. AFTER PURSUIT
A Hallettsville man wanted on an attempted murder charge was arrested after a high-speed pursuit that ended in Fayette County.
Wednesday night around 9 p.m., Fayette County dispatchers were notified of a disturbance that occurred in Lavaca County, and were told the suspect left in a white Ford F-350 headed toward Fayette County.
The vehicle was seen travelling westbound on Highway 90 toward Schulenburg, before turning northbound onto FM 2672. A Fayette County deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, but it sped away, leading to a pursuit with speeds of up to 80 mph.
The vehicle led deputies and Schulenburg police officers down several roads before turning off Ehler-Grasshoff Road northeast of Flatonia onto a private road, where it crashed into a gate and barbed wire fence. Deputies then detained the suspect, who they say had a knife on his person.
47-year-old Cecil Bernard Russell was taken to the Dan R. Beck Justice Center, and is charged with Evading Arrest with a Vehicle and Attempted Murder out of Lavaca County.
