BLINN MEN’S SOCCER FALLS TO JACKSONVILLE IN REGION XIV QUARTERFINALS

Buccaneers conclude the season with a 6-8 overall record

TYLER, Texas — The Blinn College men’s soccer team fell to Jacksonville College, 3-0, in the Region XIV quarterfinals Thursday.

With the loss, the Buccaneers were eliminated from the postseason tournament and end the season with a 6-8 overall record.

“We played very well for periods of the game, but we couldn’t convert the chances we created,” head coach Michael McBride said. “We lost to a very good team. This isn’t the way we wanted the season to end, but this team made progress and stayed positive, so hopefully we can carry that into the fall.”

Cesar Cabrera and Marco Rodriguez Jr. led Blinn’s offense with three shots on goal each, while Marco Del Vecchio, Stefan Fevrier Sildor, and Oliver Hebbard each had two.

Goalkeeper Adalid Abrego Jr. recorded four saves against the Jaguars.

Jacksonville took a 1-0 lead in the first half after scoring in the 37th minute. Then, the Jaguars scored goals in the 65th and 80th minutes to extend their lead to 3-0 for good.
