FOUR PEOPLE SENTENCED IN DISTRICT COURT THIS WEEK

  

Four people pled guilty to felony offenses and were sentenced in District Court this week.

Carmen Lynn Ramirez, 47 of Brenham, was sentenced to 7 years in prison for Possession of a Controlled Substance in a drug free zone.  She had pled guilty in December, and after a hearing, was sentenced by Judge Carson Campbell.  She had been arrested by Brenham Police in February of 2019 along with 5 other individuals.  The arrest occurred in the 300 block of East Germania Street, where they were accused of running a meth operation.

Bennie Byrd, 35 of Brenham, had his probation adjudicated and was sentenced to 12 months in state jail for a March 2016 Possession of a Controlled Substance charge.

Jonathan Jase Sams, 21 of Houston, was sentenced to 8 years’ probation for a November 2018 Manufacture or Delivery of a Controlled Substance charge.  In January, a sentencing hearing was held with no plea bargain agreement and the Court sentenced the defendant to 10 years in prison. Upon defendant’s motion, he was released by the Court under Shock Probation and was sentenced him to probation.  He was also ordered to pay a $1500 fine and perform 150 hours of community service.

Jeremy Val Suarez-Baez, 42 of Austin, was sentenced to 4 years’ probation for Driving While Intoxicated with a child under 15 years of age.  He was also ordered to pay a $1000 fine and perform 150 hours of community service.
