Volunteer firefighters in Washington County are now permanently honored at the Brenham Fire Museum.

The Washington County Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Washington County Class of 2021 hosted a dedication ceremony at the museum Wednesday.

As part of a class project to celebrate the contributions of volunteers, the group unveiled an affixed plaque and custom designed bench that now sit outside the museum.

The plaque commemorates the founding of each of the county’s fire departments.  The bench was assembled by welding students at Brenham High School.

On Tuesday, Washington County Commissioners proclaimed Wednesday, July 7th as “Volunteer Firefighters Day.”
