A Harris County man is in custody, following a brief police chase, Wednesday evening.

Just after 9:30 p.m., Brenham Police conducted a traffic stop for defective equipment in the 1800 block US Highway 290 East, near the Brenham Saddle Shop.

The suspect, 32-year-old Grant Carden of Pasadena, then fled the scene in a Ford F-150, stolen out of Harris County, leading authorities on a chase on 290 and along several city streets.

Carden eventually stopped in the parking lot of the LaRoche auto dealerships.  He reportedly tried to flee on foot, but was quickly apprehended.

Carden was taken into custody and charged with: Evading Arrest Detention with Previous Convictions; Evading Arrest Detention with a Vehicle; and Unauthorized Use of a Vehicle.

He was taken to the Washington County Jail.
