BURTON ELEMENTARY SCHOOL TO HOST EARLY CHILDHOOD SCREENING AUGUST 12
Burton ISD will hold an early childhood screening next week in cooperation with the Burton Special Services Cooperative.
The district will screen 3-year-old and 4-year-old children in the school district for the Early Childhood Program on Thursday, August 12th from 9 a.m. to noon at Burton Elementary School.
The screening will help parents and teachers determine a child’s readiness for kindergarten.
The program is designed to help children who do not have the skills necessary to be successful when entering school. It is not designed for the student who is meeting normal developmental milestones, nor is it for children whose only need is to learn to speak English.
Professionally trained individuals participating in the screening include special education teachers, teacher assistants, counselors, educational diagnosticians and speech therapists. The screening includes questions and activities in the areas of fine motor, cognitive-verbal and gross motor skills. Approximately an hour is needed to complete the screening.
