ROUND ROCK WOMAN SENTENCED TO 30 YEARS FOR ROBBERIES IN BRENHAM, CHAPPELL HILL

  

A Round Rock woman accused of robbing convenience stores at gunpoint in Brenham and Chappell Hill has been sentenced to 30 years in prison.

34-year-old Aparis Unique Higgs was sentenced Thursday in 21^st District Court on two counts of Robbery, both second degree felonies.

Higgs was sentenced for her role in a pair of robberies that occurred a month apart last spring, one at the Brenham Food Stop 2 on March 21, 2020 and the other at the Sunoco store in Chappell Hill on April 21, 2020.

Higgs, along with 20-year-old Ricky Caldwell, also of Round Rock, led authorities on a high-speed chase after the Chappell Hill robbery, ending with their arrest in Lee County.  Caldwell has not yet been sentenced.

Higgs will also have to pay $572 in restitution.

Higgs is also wanted in Ohio and Pennsylvania for Failure to Appear, and in Michigan for Fraud.  Caldwell is wanted in Georgia on a Failure to Appear warrant, with previous arrests in Georgia and Florida.

Also sentenced in District Court:

21-year-old Harold Jaquay Howard of Brenham was sentenced to seven years’ deferred adjudication probation for Possession of a Controlled Substance, a second degree felony.  He will also have to pay a $1,500 fine, complete a drug offender education program, undergo drug and alcohol evaluation and treatment, and perform 200 hours of community service.

41-year-old Dale Evan Gantt of Brenham was sentenced to two years’ deferred adjudication probation for Assault Causing Bodily Injury, a Class A misdemeanor.  He was also fined $750 and ordered to pay $100 to a family violence shelter and $100 in warrant and crime stoppers fees.  He will also have to complete a batterers intervention program.

58-year-old Ronda Renee Brooks of Brenham was sentenced to 45 days in the Washington County Jail for Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle, a Class A misdemeanor.
