CHAPPELL HILL AGGRAVATED ROBBERY SUSPECTS WITH LENGTHY CRIMINAL HISTORIES ARRESTED IN LEE CO.

A pair of suspects with extensive criminal histories in multiple states have been arrested in Lee County on charges including Aggravated Robbery from Washington County.

Aparis Unique Higgs
(Lee Co. Jail)

Tuesday night, just before 11 p.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the Sunoco convenience store in Chappell Hill for a reported robbery.  The store clerk advised deputies that a black male, armed with a handgun, robbed the store of cash and fled west on Highway 290 in a vehicle.  A vehicle description was obtained and provided to all local law enforcement agencies, including Lee and Bastrop Counties.

Within the hour, deputies learned that a vehicle matching the description of the robbery suspect’s vehicle was seen near McDade, resulting in a pursuit with speeds hitting 130 miles per hour.  The chase ended with the vehicle being spiked by Lee County law enforcement officials and state troopers.  Two individuals in the vehicle were arrested and charged in Lee County with Evading Arrest, a Class A misdemeanor.

Ricky Caldwell
(Lee Co. Jail)

After Washington County Sheriff’s Investigators traveled to McDade and assisted with the investigation, the two suspects were charged with Aggravated Robbery in Chappell Hill.  Their vehicle was also found to have fictitious license plates.

The driver, identified as 32-year-old Aparis Unique Higgs of Round Rock, is said to be wanted in Ohio and Pennsylvania for Failure to Appear, and in Michigan for Fraud.  The passenger, 19-year-old Ricky Caldwell of Round Rock, is wanted in Georgia on a Failure to Appear warrant, with previous arrests in Georgia and Florida.

Higgs and Caldwell remain in the Lee County Jail, with bonds set at $250,000 each.
