FUNDRAISER SUNDAY FOR VICTIMS OF CRASH AT MAMA’S KITCHEN
A fundraiser benefitting two employees of a Somerville restaurant is set for tomorrow (Sunday) at Lake Somerville.
Fidencia Casas and Amber Martinez, who work at Mama’s Kitchen, suffered severe burn injuries on July 29th after a car drove into the side of building where the oil fryers are located.
Residents are hosting a benefit to support their recovery at the Welch Park Pavilion.
The fundraiser will feature a poker run at noon, with stops at Wheel’s, Bottleneck’s Bar & Grill, Fort Half Moon Saloon, Somerville Icehouse & Grill and Papi’s Icehouse.
Chicken and sausage barbecue plates will be sold beginning at 6 p.m. for $10 a plate for one meat, $12 for two meats. Sweet Baby Mayhem will provide live music, and Earl and Pearl’s Creamery will treat guests to ice cream. There will also be a drawing and live and silent auctions.
After 2 p.m., all gate fees at Welch Park will be donated to Casas and Martinez. An account has been established at Citizens State Bank in Somerville under their names for anyone who cannot attend but still wishes to donate.
The Burleson County Tribune reported this week that Martinez has been released from Memorial Hermann Hospital in Houston, but will still need to return to the hospital for periodic treatment. Casas remained in the hospital’s Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
