I have no problem with the increased valuations, That is not just here in Brenham But everywhere home prices are increasing, Actually that is what a Homeowner wants , To see their value increase so when they go to sell one day they can make a profit on their investment. Where I have a Problem is some peoples home values get raised every year on their taxes and others do not, also I see certain Local officials who have homes valued at far less than they purchased the home. ( All public record) When I see a County official with a property that has a value of over $700,000 But is on the tax role for $315,00 and another whom purchased their home for $350,00 But is on the tax role for $270,00 that is where i have an issue with this process. Be fair to all Not just to some.
You get what you vote for people. On school taxes, when what we pay goes up, the state pays less by that same amount. So who do you need to voice your concerns with? The entity which benefits the most when we pay more. . And if anyone tells you otherwise, they are storytelling.
