BRENHAM MAIN STREET BOARD DISCUSSES PLANS FOR FOOD TRUCK PARK, MUSEUM RENOVATION

  

Plans for a possible food truck park for Downtown Brenham are moving forward.

Tentatively called “St. Charles Station”, the food truck park would be located at the south end of St. Charles Street where it dead ends at the railroad tracks.  The Brenham Main Street Board was briefed on the project at its monthly meeting this week.  The Brenham City Council appointed a committee to explore the possibility of adding a food truck park to the downtown area.

Renovation of the interior of the Brenham Heritage Museum on Market Street has begun.  Tiffany Morisak of the Museum Board told members of the Main Street Board that some interior walls that had been added over the years are being removed to make the space more open as when it was the Brenham Post Office.  New graphic signs are also being prepared for the exterior of the building.  Morisak said fundraising has begun and so far over $600,000 has been raised for the project.

Jennifer Eckermann told the Board that 15 people have been nominated by downtown property owners for 2 positions on Brenham’s Historic Preservation Board.  Eckermann says a ballot with all of those nominees will be sent to all downtown property owners next week.

In other business, the Main Street Board approved a matching incentive grant of $1329 for the awning of the new 30 North Gastropub on Alamo Street.  Main Street is also continuing to accept entries for its Scarecrow Extravaganza contest which awarding over $1500 in cash prizes.  Classrooms, clubs, businesses and individuals have until September 24^th to enter the contest by going to www.downtownbrenham.com.
