Navasota City Manager Brad Stafford is retiring from city government.
Stafford’s last day with the city will be October 29th, after serving as city manager since 2006.
Stafford said after over three decades as a municipal employee, he is ready for a change of pace.
Stafford grew up in Whitharral, west of Lubbock, and graduated from Texas Tech University. He began his municipal career with the City of Morton and then took a position with the City of Sundown, prior to arriving in Navasota.
Stafford said he is proud of what the city has accomplished and believes it continues to be on the rise.
In 2015, Stafford was recognized as Administrator of the Year by the Texas City Management Association (TCMA) and received the Arts Champion Award from the Arts Council of the Brazos Valley. He served as TCMA’s president in 2020.
Stafford said he will stay in Navasota and continue to work in the private sector, but plans to spend more time with his family and catch up on his longtime hobby of fishing.
The City of Navasota has begun the process of transitioning to a new city manager.
