BLINN MEN’S SOCCER TEAM FALLS TO 5TH-RANKED TYLER, 2-0

Bucs host Trinity Valley on Saturday

The Blinn College men’s soccer team gave up a quick goal but battled 5th-ranked Tyler Junior College throughout the game in a 2-0 loss Wednesday night in Tyler.
Tyler scored three minutes into the game and added a second goal early in the second half to pick up the Region XIV win and sweep the regular-season series. The conference-leading Apaches won 3-1 on Sept. 1.
“We fell behind really early, but I think we took them out of their game and got them off-balance for a while,” assistant coach Rudy Roediger said. “I’ve got to give our guys credit. It could have gone really sideways. We had some guys out with injuries and others didn’t make the trip, so we had to shuffle some players around. We just have to keep taking care of business and keep working toward the playoffs.”
Roediger said Josh Farrell and Stefan Fevrier Sildor played really well.
“Stefan was phenomenal even though he didn’t get on the scoresheet,” he said.
Blinn is 4-4-1 in conference and in third place. The Buccaneers are 7-4-2 on the season.
Blinn hosts Trinity Valley Community College on Saturday at Rankin Field in Brenham. Game time is 4 p.m. The Bucs beat Trinity Valley 7-0 in their earlier game.
