BURTON HIGH SCHOOL STUDENT AMONG FOUR INJURED IN ACCIDENT NEAR BRENHAM

Four people, including at least one Burton High School student, were injured in a single-vehicle accident Sunday evening morning west of Brenham.

DPS Sergeant Justin Ruiz reports the accident occurred around 6:30 a.m. on FM 389, near Berlin Road.

According to Sgt. Ruiz, the four were traveling west on FM 389 in a Ford F-250 when, for unknown reasons, the vehicle swerved to the left, lost control and went into a side skid.  The truck crossed into the eastbound lane and entered the bar ditch, striking a tree.

The driver, 19 17-year-old Aiden Griffin of Burton, along with the front-seat passenger, 15-year-old Jace Carmean of Round Top, suffered serious injuries and were flown to St. Joseph Health Regional Hospital in Bryan Memorial Hermann in Houston, where they remain in stable condition.

Griffin is a senior at Burton High School and is a member of the Burton FFA.

Two rear passengers, 17-year-old Alexander Estrada and 17-year-old Jaleel Alshinow, were taken by ambulance to the hospital with minor injuries, and were released that evening.

The accident remains under investigation.
