MEMORIAL SERVICE SATURDAY AT FIREMAN’S PARK FOR KWHI SPORTS DIRECTOR ED POTHUL
A memorial service has been set for longtime KWHI Sports Director Ed Pothul.

Pothul passed away early Monday at the age of 60. He had been recovering at his home near Chappell Hill following a recent bypass surgery, after he suffered a heart attack in September.
The service will be held on Saturday at the baseball stadium at Fireman’s Park in Brenham from 10 a.m. to noon. Food and fellowship will continue from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Fireman’s Park pavilions.
There will be a private burial at the Masonic Cemetery in Chappell Hill.
Known on air as “The Sports Doc”, Pothul started working for KWHI on September 6, 1989. Prior to coming to Brenham, he broadcasted games for his alma mater, Eastern New Mexico University. His broadcasting career began at age 15 in his hometown of Sheffield, Massachusetts.
Throughout his time with KWHI, Pothul provided play-by-play coverage for numerous local sporting events, including football, baseball, volleyball, basketball and Little League. In 2015, he was enshrined into the Brenham Cub Football Hall of Honor.
Services are in the care of Brenham Memorial Chapel.
