INFO SOUGHT ON DRIVER WHO DROVE AWAY AFTER CAUSING ACCIDENT NEAR CARMINE

Authorities are searching for a driver who they say caused an accident Tuesday night along Highway 290 in Fayette County and drove away without stopping to help.

DPS Trooper Joshua Berger reports the accident occurred around 7:45 p.m., about a mile west of Carmine.

According to Berger, a pickup truck was driving eastbound in the inside lane when a second vehicle in the outside lane struck the pickup, causing it to spin out into the median.  Berger said the truck slid across into the oncoming westbound lane and rolled into a ditch, while the other vehicle continued driving.

According to Berger, no injuries were reported.

The vehicle that struck the truck was described as a light-colored SUV, possibly a Chevy Tahoe, with damage to the front fender and driver-side mirror area.

Berger said the driver would be charged at minimum with Failure to Stop and Render Aid, with other charges possible.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office at 979-968-5856.
