FOUR ARRESTED IN HEMPSTEAD AFTER DRUGS, STOLEN HANDGUN, STOLEN TRUCK FOUND AT HOME

  

A lengthy investigation into narcotics distribution from a Waller County residence led to four arrests and the recovery of assorted illegal drugs, a stolen handgun and a stolen vehicle.

On Tuesday, members of the Westside Narcotics Task Force served a search warrant at a home in the 500 block of 8^th Street in Hempstead.  Task force investigators located and seized crack cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, ecstasy tablets, controlled dangerous substances, marijuana and United States currency.

Investigators also recovered a 9mm semi-automatic handgun that was determined to be stolen after they checked the serial number.  They also located a 2011 Ford F-350, and upon checking the truck’s vehicle identification number (VIN), discovered it had been listed as stolen from Harris County.

42-year-old Craig Lewis, 33-year-old Malcolm Thomas Jr., 24-year-old Tyson Mayes and 32-year-old Ronald Turner Jr., all of Hempstead, were arrested and charged with offenses including Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana, Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, Theft by Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle, and Tampering with Evidence.  All four suspects were booked into the Waller County Jail.

The investigation was led by task force investigators from the Hempstead Police Department and Bellville Police Department.

The Westside Narcotics Task Force is led by Austin County Sheriff’s Office Lieutenant Matt Walls and is comprised of federal and local law enforcement from the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Austin County Sheriff’s Office, Bellville Police Department, Sealy Police Department, Waller County Sheriff’s Office, Hempstead Police Department and the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office.  The task force’s jurisdiction includes; Austin, Waller, Colorado, and Fayette County.
