SHERIFF’S OFFICE INVESTIGATING THEFT OF VEHICLE

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in locating those responsible for the theft of a vehicle Friday.

According to Washington County Sheriff Otto Hanak, at 6:45 AM Saturday, a burglary and theft of a vehicle was reported in the 8000 block of Highway 290 East in Chappell Hill.  According to the property owner, the suspects stole a Maroon 2001 Ford F-250 truck bearing Texas license plate GVW-5263, which was parked behind the building in a fenced lot.  The unknown suspects then forced their way into the building where they gained access to a 2011 black American utility trailer bearing Texas license plate 6893047K, loaded with two 2021 Scag Zero Turn mowers. There was also miscellaneous lawn equipment items taken from inside the building.

The suspects then departed the location with the Ford pickup pulling the trailer loaded with the mowers, and after ramming the vehicle through two locked gates.
