The team of Chet Fritsch, Waylon Hinze, Weston Hinze and Tanna Thiel will compete against the best 4-H Livestock Judging Teams from each state across the country. The contest will feature 11 placing classes, four sets of oral reasons and three questions classes.
The group earned the opportunity by taking home high team honors at the Texas 4-H State Livestock Judging Contest in June in College Station.
As members of the Burton FFA Livestock Judging Team, the four also won the title of State Champion FFA Livestock Judging Team before being crowned Reserve National Champions at the National FFA Livestock Judging Contest in October.
Charles Seely, a volunteer coach for the team along with Kendall Smidovec, said the team winning two state titles and representing Texas at both the National 4-H and FFA contests in the same year “is a feat that no Texas 4-H/FFA Livestock Judging Team in recent memory has accomplished.” He said, “Regardless of the results in Louisville, this team will be remembered as one of the most successful 4-H/FFA Livestock Judging Teams of all time.”
