MICHIGAN HOMEBUILDER OPENING NEW FACILITY IN NAVASOTA
A factory-built housing company from Michigan has announced plans for a new facility in Navasota.
Skyline Champion announced earlier this month that it is planning to open a 270,000 square-foot home building plant, after acquiring the facility in June.
According to a press release, Skyline expects the first production line to be operational this year. It anticipates opening a second line as the supply chain allows, which would grow the operation to over 250 employees, becoming one of the largest employers in the city.
According to Skyline’s website, the company has 40 manufacturing facilities throughout the United States and western Canada and employs approximately 7,900 people. The company’s portfolio includes manufactured and modular homes, Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs), park-models and modular buildings for the single-family, multi-family, and hospitality sectors.
Skyline also operates a factory-direct retail business, Titan Factory Direct, with 18 retail locations spanning the southern United States, and Star Fleet Trucking, which provides transportation services to the manufactured housing and other industries from several dispatch locations across the United States.
Skyline General Manager Scott Isom said, “Skyline Champion is thrilled to be in Navasota and we are making a long-term commitment here.”
