BELLVILLE NATIVE CALEB SMIDT WINS WORLD TIE-DOWN CHAMPIONSHIP

THIRD WORLD TITLE FOR SMIDT

Bellville native Caleb Smidt captured his third career world championship over the weekend.

Smidt finished atop the world tie-down roping standings after 10 rounds at the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas. The standings are determined by money won throughout the year.

Smidt also won world titles in 2015 and 2018. Much like in those years, Smidt won the NFR Average Title in the tie-down event this year.

The tie-down event featured other local favorites as well with Westyn Hughes of Caldwell finishing 3rd, Shane Hanchey of Carmine finishing 4th, and Cory Solomon of Prairie View finishing 5th.
