On Saturday, Faith Mission participated in its second Hurricane Ida relief event, entitled “Hope for Christmas”. Through the Neighbors Helping Neighbors Fund, the organization was able to help six families with $500 per family.
The event was coordinated by Pastor Tara Alexander of Champion Church in LaPlace, who took the Faith Mission team to the most devastated areas.
In September, Faith Mission partnered for an initial relief event with NOLA Creations, celebrity chef Darrell Johnson, Salvation Army of Texas, LaPlace Councilmember Tonia Schnyder, Louisiana Fish Fry and Raffeal Neal of the St. John the Baptist Parish Youth Recreational Program. Together, they served over 5,000 hot meals, distributed over $200,000 in non-perishable food items and provided diapers, cleaning supplies and other items to those impacted.
Faith Mission Executive Director Reverend Randy Wells thanked everyone who contributed, saying the recipients “were grateful to tears to receive the blessings.”
