BRENHAM WRITER/ARTIST DOES CHILDREN’S BOOK

  

A Brenham writer and artist has written and illustrated a children’s book.  Lloyd Mays has written and illustrated the book “Benny Bee” just in time for Christmas.  The book, which is available at the Book Nook in Brenham, follows the adventures of Benny Bee and his friends Freddy Fly and Fe Fe Flea.  The book uses rhyming verses to teach children the importance of helping others.

Mays has also written “I Came From Hog Branch” a collection of paintings and poetry from Brenham Texas.  Born in 1956, Mays grew up on the east side of Brenham in an area known as Hog Branch.

Mays says the idea for the children’s book came because children today are very confused with everything that is going on.  He wanted to reassure them that everything will be ok if they just help one another.
