Three days into 2022, Washington County welcomed the first baby born of the new year.

Genessy Scarlett Castillo was born Monday at 3:05 a.m. to Flori Castillo at Baylor Scott & White Medical Center in Brenham.

At birth, Genessy weighed 5 lbs. 8 oz. and measured 18.5 inches.
