Bucs push record to 12-11 overall and 5-7 in conference

The Blinn College men’s basketball team defeated Jacksonville College 78-65 Tuesday night in Region XIV action in Jacksonville, Texas.

Blinn improved to 12-11 overall and 5-7 in region play. 

The Buccaneers led by as much as 20 in the final minutes of play and executed their established gameplan to perfection, said head coach Scott Schumacher.

“Our guys played a really good basketball game,” Schumacher stated. “Our guys were sound, we guarded, we rebounded, and we got good shots. They deserved to win.”

Leading the way for the Buccaneers was sophomore guard Calvin Carpenter with 19 points, followed by 18 from sophomore win Connor Raines. Freshman forward Tyler Washington and freshman center Alex Tsynkevich chipped in 12 points apiece.

Blinn returns to play Wednesday, Feb. 2, with a 7 p.m. region tilt against Angelina College at the Kruse Center in Brenham.
