NAVASOTA MAN CHARGED IN FATAL WASHINGTON CO. SHOOTING INDICTED

A Navasota man facing murder and assault charges in Washington County has been indicted by the Washington County Grand Jury.
18-year-old Tru’Von Dealon Sweed was indicted Tuesday for Murder, Conspiracy to Commit Murder, Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, Conspiracy to Commit Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon, and Deadly Conduct – Discharge of a Firearm.
Sweed was arrested in April 2020 for his alleged involvement in a fatal shooting in Old Washington on March 15, 2020, resulting in the death of 20-year-old Derrick Anthony Davis, Jr. of Hempstead. Two others were wounded in the shooting.
Sweed was a juvenile at the time of the shooting, but was certified by Washington County Court at Law in July to be tried as an adult on the charges. He is currently in custody at the Washington County Jail, with bonds totaling $160,000.

18-year-old Mia Nicole Simmons of Brenham, indicted for Aggravated Assault against a Family or Household Member with a Weapon.
25-year-old Marina Janelle Najera of Brenham, indicted for Burglary of a Habitation.
24-year-old Tyrone Scyrus, Jr. of Brenham, for Continuous Violence against the Family and Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle.
57-year-old Mark Gregory Joswiak of Brenham, for two counts of Terroristic Threat against a Peace Officer.
25-year-old Gamarcus Dewayne Sheppard of Brenham, indicted for Credit/Debit Card Abuse.
43-year-old Christi Michelle Radney of Driftwood, for Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle and Possession of a Controlled Substance.
40-year-old Brittany Monet Johnson of Houston and 18-year-old Ahmonte Jaysen Kendrick of Killeen, both for Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle.
25-year-old Joseph Robert Felan of College Station, indicted for Driving While Intoxicated with a Child Passenger.
34-year-old Nickalous Dewayne Knight of Chappell Hill, for Evading Arrest/Detention with Previous Conviction.
48-year-old Luis Renan Munoz-Mendez of Austin, for Fraudulent Use of Identifying Information – Less than Five Items.
43-year-old Mitchell Ray Wilson of Brenham, for Manufacture/Delivery of a Controlled Substance – Enhanced.
31-year-old Tommy Benson, Jr. of Houston, for Possession of a Controlled Substance and Attempted Tampering with Physical Evidence.
26-year-old Joaquin Santos Echeverria of Chappell Hill and 30-year-old Justin James Pierce of Houston, both for Possession of a Controlled Substance.
Two people were previously indicted and have since been arrested:
39-year-old Jennifer Warren-Brown of Manor, for Theft of Property less than $2,500 with Two or More Previous Convictions.
38-year-old Ronald Doyle Knipstein of Brenham, for Sexual Assault Prohibit/Purport Spouse and Indecency with a Child.
