The Washington County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the Texas Rangers, has announced the arrest a juvenile in the March 16th shooting death of 20-year-old Derrick Anthony Davis Jr., of Hempstead.

Due to the suspect's age his name cannot be released.

Davis and two others were shot when a large crowd gathered near the Washington/Grimes County line in the 20000 block of Washington Bridge Road.

Hospitalized was 50-year-old Patricia Ann-Coleman Cross of Washington County, who was treated for an upper body gunshot wound and later released.  29-year-old Ronneisha Rutherford of College Station, was grazed by a bullet and treated at the scene.

Several vehicles at the scene were struck by bullets.

Washington County Sheriff Otto Hanak says the shooting may have been related to an unauthorized trail ride.  He called the incident “a senseless act and so preventable” and the situation involved “people with very little respect for human life.”

Hanak says more arrests are imminent.
