Travelers on Highway 290 in Washington County have seen hefty delays after a large piece of equipment came through the area on Wednesday.

A large transformer weighing one million pounds, sitting on a 26-axle trailer, has caused lengthy traffic slowdowns along Highway 290.

The machinery came from the Port of Houston on Saturday and made its way through most of the county on Wednesday.

The equipment is expected to arrive today (Thursday) at its final destination: the Fayetteville Substation on FM 1291. Anyone driving on Highway 290 or Highway 237 should be prepared for potentially longer travel times.
