GROUNDBREAKING HELD FOR NEW ALLOY MANUFACTURING FACILITY IN WASHINGTON CO.

A manufacturer in the oil and gas industry broke ground Thursday at the site of its new production facility in Washington County.
Representatives from Corrosion Resistant Alloys (CRA) met with local and state officials at a groundbreaking ceremony at 4300 Highway 290 East. The company is relocating part of its production from Ohio and plans to build 80,000 square feet of manufacturing space as part of the first phase of development, with a capital investment of $30 million. It anticipates hiring 40 employees.
Washington County Judge John Durrenberger said he believes CRA will be a great fit for Washington County.
CRA manufactures high-grade corrosion resistant alloy tubes and has a primary market in the upstream oil and gas industry. Owned by the Patchell family and led by president John Patchell, the company was founded in 2002 and has its global headquarters located in Houston.
State Senator Lois Kolkhorst congratulated the city and the county for their hard work in securing the project, saying it will be a big contributor.
Brenham | Washington County Economic Development Director Susan Cates said CRA plans to fully invest itself in the community.
The project to bring CRA to Washington County began in 2019. In December 2020, the county approved an agreement for development and tax phase-in for the company. The formal announcement that the company would build a facility in Washington County came in May 2021.
Durrenberger said the hope is to see production begin at the facility a year and a half from May.
